| DIMITRIS CHRISTIDES Drums
Dimitris Christides was born 1980 in Khartum, Sudan. Inspired by the Greek jazz legend Spyros Panagiotopoulos, he started playing drums at the age of 14. Throughout his youth he was involved in various projects of different styles, such as his high school jazz orchestra and a great number of performances with the Greek jazz rock formation “Headrush”. In London Dimitris studied popular music at the London College for Music and, among others, played drums for the "Hull University Jazz Orchestra".
In 2001 Christides formed a power fusion trio with renowned session bass player John Kartalis and the increasingly popular jazz guitarist Tassos Savopoulos. Throughout this time he also worked with Mack Rodrick and Steve Jones. In London he becomes tutor for drums at the jazz department of Middlesex University. Here Dimitris started collaborations with Shaun Baxter, Rob Townsend and Sam Gambarini.
Christides now lives in Berlin, playing in various projects, such as the contemporary jazz quartet and “For Free Hands”.
Among his studio work are recordings for the drum and bass labels "Evil Recordings", "Lautopsy Records" und "Spiky Black Cat Records".
Dimitris joined the Jesse Ballard band in 2005.
